FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University shortstop Doug Anderson's (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) a member of the Jersey Pilots of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL) wood bat league began the ACBL Playoffs with a 7-1 win, over the Kutztown Rockies on Wednesday evening.

The Pilots advanced to the best-of-three Wolf Division finals with the Quakertown Blazers, last night falling, 3-0. The winner of the Wolf Division will meet the winner of the Kaiser Division in a best-of-three series.

First pitch for Game 2 of the series is slated for 7 p.m. at Krausche Field in North Plainfield, N.J.

Statistics for the first two games of the 2005 playoffs are not available at this time.

Anderson finished the regular season on a tear, leading the Pilots with a .325 batting average, finishing ninth in the league in that category. In 40 regular season games, Anderson had one home run and 18 runs batted in.

He finished the 2005 season with 41 hits, including six doubles and two triples. The first-team All-MAAC selection also collected 54 total bases, while posting a .429 slugging percentage, and a .456 on-base percentage, and was also 4-of-6, in stolen base attempts.

Last year, the Pilots won the ACBL Championship with a 9-5 win over the Stamford Robbins. Anderson was a key contributor to the Pilots winning the championship, as he was second on the team in hitting with a .289 batting average one homerun and 14 runs batted in.

He was also stellar in the field, as he had a .968 fielding percentage and he had 25 of a league-leading 36 double plays for the Pilots. Earlier this summer, Anderson was selected to his second ACBL All-Star Game, and last season was rated in the top-10 professional prospects in the ACBL, by Baseball America.
