Fairfield, Conn. - Tom Lopusznick (Leonardo, N.J.), the right fielder for Fairfield University's baseball team, was named co-MVP of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Playoffs. Lopusznick helped the Middletown Giants win their third consecutive NECBL title. He shared the award with Giant teammate Bob Acabbo of the University of Vermont.

Lopusznick batted .500 (12-for-24) for the tournament with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI and scored 10 runs as Middletown defeated the Danbury Westerners three games to one for the championship. Another member of the Fairfield University baseball team, short stop Eddie McCrann (Middle Village, NY), also played well for Middletown. McCrann batted .400 to help the clinch the team's third straight NECBL crown. Lopusznick batted .248 in the regular season for the Giants. The 5-foot-11 senior cracked seven home runs, drove in 24 runs, scored 21 runs and stole five bases.

Lopusznick helped Fairfield to a 23-23 overall record this past spring as the Stags tied a program record for wins in a season. He earned All-MAAC South honors after hitting a school record 10 home runs and collecting 33 stolen bases in 37 attempts. Lopusznick is already tied for first all-time at Fairfield with 25 career round-trippers, second with 129 RBI and third with 59 stolen bases. His .339 career batting average currently ranks fifth all-time.
