FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team has set its 2004 baseball schedule. The Stags open the season with a three-game series at UMBC March 6-7. A week later, the Stags will head to Florida for the second time in three seasons to face five opponents in Bradenton, Fla.

The Stags open their southern swing against Northern Illinois of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), on March 14, at 10:30 a.m. On the 15th the Stags will face Miami of Ohio, at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Fairfield faces Bucknell from the Patriot League at 2:30 p.m. On St. Patrick's Day the Stags will meet Columbia of the Ivy League for a 10 a.m. first pitch. The Stags will wrap up their Sunshine State swing with Dartmouth at 3 p.m. on March 18.

After returning from Florida, Fairfield is scheduled to open an eight-game home stand with a doubleheader with Stony Brook on March 20 at Alumni Diamond. The next day Fairfield entertains the University at Albany for a double dip. Big East foe St. John's, Central Connecticut, and a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series with Marist close the home stand.

A March 20th game at Central Connecticut is the last road game before a nine-game home stand, where the University of Connecticut, a three-game MAAC series with Canisius, a single game with Hartford, a MAAC series with Rider, and a single game with Pace close out a string of games at Alumni Diamond from April 1-13.

The Stags then will hit the road for a nine-inning game at Rhode Island on April 14. Then the Stags travel to Loudonville, N.Y. for a three-game MAAC series with Siena, April 17-18. Fairfield will then head to Storrs, Conn. for the second game with UConn. of the season, April 20. The next day will host Yale at Alumni Diamond, before heading to Niagara for a MAAC series April 24-25.

The Stags last non-conference game of the season sees Fordham from the A-10 coming to Alumni Diamond on April 28. After the Rams visit the North Benson Road campus the Stags head to New Rochelle, N.Y. for a MAAC series with Iona, May 1-2.

The last home series of the season will feature the defending MAAC Champion LeMoyne, May 8-9. The next weekend the Stags hit the road to face for a three-game series at Saint Peter's May 15-16. Fairfield wraps up the 2004 regular season at Manhattan May 20-21. The four-team 2004 MAAC Baseball Championships will once again be held at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y. (May 27-29).
