Edney spent last season at Hargrave Military Academy where he averaged 14 points per game. He helped the team advance to the National Prep Tournament national semifinals. He also enjoyed success at James Madison High School, where he led the team to a District Championship, as well as a District semi-final appearance. In his senior season, the team shattered the school record for wins in a season as James Madison posted a 25-4 record. With that success, the team went to the Regional tournament for the first time in 10 years. He averaged 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game during his senior season. For his efforts, Edney captured All-Metro and All-Region honors. Plus, the forward secured All-State second team accolades in his senior season. Edney earned the Liberty District Player of the Year award, as well as the District's Defensive Player of the Year award. He finished his high school career with 1,071 points. He was nominated for the McDonald's all-America team as a senior.
