Men's Basketball Heads South To Loyola For Nationally-Televised Game

 The men's basketball team will take on Loyola College on Friday night as both teams resume conference play. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU, with tip-off slated for 7 pm.

The Stags are playing their second straight conference road game, coming off an 89-78 overtime win against Saint Peter's on December 28. This game marks the third of four straight away games for Fairfield, last playing at home on December 21 against Saint Joseph's. Greg Nero led all Fairfield scorers with 12 points in the Stags 71-50 loss at William & Mary, which raised his season scoring average to 10.0 points per game. Jonathan Han is the other Fairfield player scoring in double figures with 12.3 points per contest. Anthony Johnson collected nine rebounds against William & Mary, the third straight game he's been the team's top rebounder. He averaged 11.7 rebounds per game over the three-game stretch, raising his team-leading rebounding total to 7.6 caroms per contest.

The Greyhounds comes off a two-game road swing through the Midwest which sent the Greyhounds to the University of Dayton (91-74 loss) and the University of Illinois (77-43 loss). Although they scored 43 points against Illinois, Loyola ranks as one of the top scoring teams in the MAAC. The Greyhounds have tallied 70 or more points in seven of their 12 games, including a high of 89 points in a win over Pennsylvania. Gerald Brown plays a large part in the team's scoring prowess, averaging 19.9 points per game. Marquis Sullivan has also performed well, averaging 11.3 points per game. The junior has a team-high 32 three-point baskets, two-thirds of his 48 total field goals this year. Michael Tuck has been effective in both the scoring (9.2 ppg) and rebounding (team-high 6.6 rpg) columns. Sophomore Brett Harveyis the team's play maker with 47 assists in 12 games.
