
Stags Basketball, Cablevision Strike Partnership To Televise Games

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University and Cablevision will enter a partnership to televise men's and women's basketball games live, beginning with the 2007-08 season. This year's schedule will include two doubleheaders from the Arena at Harbor Yard, as well as a men's basketball road game against Rider University. The announcement was made by Eugene P. Doris, director of athletics at Fairfield University.
"I am very excited about striking a partnership with Cablevision," Doris said. "We have enjoyed a working relationship with Cablevision for many years, and believe this partnership will benefit not only Fairfield University and Cablevision, but also the many college basketball fans in Fairfield Country as well as Long Island. I look forward to seeing Fairfield University basketball on Cablevision this year, and in seasons to come."
The schedule will include the January 27 doubleheader which includes the men's team playing Niagara University at 1 pm, followed by the women's team battling Iona College at 3:30 pm. On February 16, viewers may watch the women's team play Siena College at noon, and the men's team takes on Rider University at 2 pm. The final game on the schedule is a men's basketball road game against Rider University on March 2 with game time being slated for 2 pm.
The games will be produced by the Fairfield University Media Center, utilizing the University's satellite production truck. The Media Center has provided live feeds via satellite to Fox News Channel, CNN, and MSNBC through its satellite truck. In addition to the expertise of the Media Center staff, students will also be involved in the production of the games, making this a true educational experience.
"This partnership spotlights the outstanding capabilities of Fairfield's Media Center, including its professional staff and state of the art high definition facilities," said Fairfield University Media Center Director Jim Mayzik, S.J. "This will also provide an unique opportunity for the students in our New Media Film, Television and Radio program to participate significantly in the real world of professional sports broadcasting."
