
Stags Return To Road For Saturday Afternoon Contest With Cincinnati

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team returns to the road for a match up with Big East foe University of Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon. The game will be televised locally in the Cincinnati area on Channel 19 WXIS.
Fairfield University (2-2 overall) begins a three-game road trip this with the Cincinnati game, a trip which also takes it to St. Francis N.Y. and Georgetown. The Stags bring a modest two-game win streak into this game, which includes an 84-75 vcitory over Sacred Heart University on Sunday evening. Four Fairfield players reach double figures against Sacred Heart, led by Jonathan Han's game-high 22 points. Greg Nero tallied his second straight double-digit effort with 21 markers in the Sacred Heart game. Anthony Johnson tallied his first double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Nero (12.0 ppg), Han (10.8 ppg), and Johnson (9.5 ppg) all moved past Mike Evanovich (9.0 ppg) in scoring average. Evanovich was the team's leading scorer through the first three games with 11 points per game.
University of Cincinnati (2-2 overall) plays its fifth of six straight home games on November 24, splitting the first four outings. The Bearcats come off a 74-59 win over Coastal Carolina on November 16, just one point off its season-high of 75 points established in an 86-75 loss against Belmont in the season opener. Deonta Vaughn was responsible for nearly half of the team's offense on November 16, scoring 36 of the team's 74 points. Vaughn netted 12 of 19 shots from the floor, incluidng nine three-point baskets, with three free throws. He raised his team-high scoring average to 19.3 points per game, one of four Bearcats averaging more than 10 points per game. Adam Hrycaniuk (10.8 ppg), John Williamson (10.3 ppg), and Marvin Gentry (10.0 ppg) are also in double figures.
