
Stags Return To DC For Saturday Afternoon Game With Georgetown

Fairfield University (2-4 overall) finishes up a three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon against Georgetown University. The Stags have dropped the first two games on this swing, coming up short against Cincinnati and St. Francis. The team will play its fifth road game in the first seven outings, but will become caught up with their home appearances following a pair of home games next week (Yale and Siena). The Stags have two players averaging better than 10 points per game in Jonathan Han (11.8 ppg) and Greg Nero (10.0 ppg). Head Coach Ed Cooley has received support from his two starting freshman Yorel Hawkins and Warren Edney, both of whom were part of the starting lineup in each of the last three games. In those three starts, Edney is averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, while Hawkins is tallying 7.0 and 7.0 rebounds per contest.
Georgetown University (4-0 overall), currently ranked fifth in the nation, comes off a pair of road wins against Ball State (57-48) and Old Dominion (66-48), after opening the season with home victories against William & Mary and Michigan. The Hoyas defense has proven to be a formidible force in that it has not surrendered more than 53 points in any of its four games this year. Roy Hibbert has been central to the team's defensive efforts with 12 blocks in four games, along with a team-best 7.8 rebounds per game. Hibbert is also the team's top scorer with 16.3 points per game, just ahead of Jesse Sapp's 12.0 points per game. Sapp has been the primary play maker for the Hoyas with 21 assists in four outings (5.2 per game).
