
Men's Basketball Hosts Rider University In MAAC Match Up Saturday Afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield University hosts Rider University on Saturday afternoon, taking on the MAAC's co-leader for the first time this season. The Stags bring a season-long three-game winning streak into the contest after extending the run with a 68-59 victory against Iona at the Arena. Two of the wins during this current streak came on the road, posting victories at Niagara and Manhattan. Herbie Allen scored game highs in both wins last week, netting 15 markers against Manhattan and16 points versus Iona. Allen remains the team's leading scorer in MAAC play, averaging 13.3 points per game. Jonathan Han continues to lead the MAAC in assists per game (6.0) and minutes played per game (37.7). He is the team's top overall scorer with 10.8 points per game. He moved into eighth place all-time at Fairfield with 375 career assists. His 147 assists is tied for the ninth best-single season assist total in Fairfield history, with Johnnie Jones and Tyquawn Goode, needing nine more to move past A.J. Wynder into eighth place by himself.
Rider University enter today's game as the MAAC co-leader along with Siena, boasting n 11-3 conference record and an 18-7 overall mark. The Broncs saw their 10-game win streak come to an end after Siena posted an 80-77 win in Lawrenceville, despite a 28-point effort from Jason Thompson. Thompson has been the team's top scorer in each of the last five games, averaging 21 points per game during the stretch. He is averaging a double double with 20.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. Ryan Thompson and Harris Mansell are also scoring in double figures with 15.4 and 13.2 points per game respectively. Ryan Thompson is the team's top playmaker with just under four assists per game.
