Game Notes

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The men's basketball team will return home for a Sunday night match up with Sacred Heart University at the Arena at Harbor Yard, the first time the two teams will meet on the hardwood. Game time is slated for 7 pm.

Fairfield University have staggered their first four games between road and home contests, starting with a game at Wake Forest on November 9, a home game against Holy Cross on November 13, and a game at American on November 15. The Stags posted their first win of the season in come-from-behind fashion, turning a nine-point halftime deficit into an eight-point win over American, 60-52. Three players reached double figures against the Eagles, the first time all three players reached the 10-point mark this season. Jonathan Han and Greg Nero each netted 15 points, while Anthony Johnson tossed in 14 markers. Johnson and Nero currently rank second and thrid in scoring behind Mike Evanovich's 11 points per game, the only Fairfield player with a double-digit scoring average.

Sacred Heart University comes off a 70-55 loss at the University of Hartford, dropping the Pioneers to 0-3 overall. The team has a tough start in that five of its first six games are on the road. The Hartford game started a span of four straight road games, which concludes with St. John's (November 20) and Albany (November 25). The Pioneers have a balanced attack with three starters scoring within a point of each other. Chanucey Hardy and Brice Brooks lead the team with nine points each, while Corey Hassan is close with an 8.3 scoring average. Hassan led the Sacred Heart attack with 14 points, followed by Hardy's 10 points in the Hartford game. Brooks was impressive on the boards with 10 rebounds. Ryon Howard leads the team with just over seven rebounds per game.
