
Men's Basketball Takes On Saint Peter's In MAAC Action Friday Night

Fairfield University (2-8 overall, 0-1 MAAC) will play for the first time in a week when it travels to Jersey City for a match up with conference foe Saint Peter's College. The Stags will play just their second game in three weeks, a stretch which included a game against Siena College on December 7 and a contest versus Saint Joseph's University on December 21. Tonight's game also marks a return to the MAAC schedule as Fairfield hopes to even up its record in league play. Anthony Johnson comes off his third double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds in the loss to Saint Joseph's. The sophomore raised his team-leading rebounding average to seven per game. Jonathan Han remains the team's leading scorer with 11.3 points per game, a number which was helped by his 12-point effort against Saint Joseph's.
Saint Peter's College (3-7 overall, 0-1 MAAC) ends a four-game road trip this evening by hosting Fairfield University in a conference game, the team's first MAAC game since a three-point loss to Manhattan College on December 7. The Peacocks have been nearly unbeatable at home with a 3-1 record, a contrast to the team's 0-6 road mark. Freshman guard Wesley Jenkins earned his second MAAC Rookie of the Week honor after averaging 16.5 points over two games last week, which improved his scoirng average to 13.4 points per game. Todd Sowell is the only Saint Peter's player with a higher scoring average, netting 13.6 points every forty minutes. He completes his double double season averages with 11 rebounds per game, trailing only Rider's Jason Thompson (11.3 rpg) among MAAC rebounding leaders. Saint Peter's returns to the road for its next game, a December 31 contest against Providence College.
