Men's Basketball Host Saint Peter's In Final Alumni Hall Game Of 2007-08 Season

Fairfield University (5-12 overall, 3-4 MAAC) will play its first Alumni Hall against a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent since the team returned to its on campus facility last season. The Stags split a pair of games last season at Alumni Hall, and lost its first game this year - a 70-66 decision against Yale. Fairfield dropped its ]a 67-52 decision at Iona College., the team sixth road game in the last seven outings. Anthony Johnson and Warren Edney reached double figures in the game, tallying 11 and 10 points, respectively. Greg Nero secured a team-high eight rebounds in the game, and added eight points to the cause. Jonathan Han netted nine points in the game, hitting three of four three-point shots. He enters tonight's game as the only Fairfield player in double figures with 11.1 points per game.

Saint Peter's College (4-13 overall, 1-6 MAAC) comes off a 62-57 loss against Loyola College in Jersey City on Saturday. The Peacocks came back from two seven-point deficits in the second half before succumbing late in the game. The team received a team-high 18 points from Wesley Jenkins, while Todd Sowell finished the game with 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots. The fact that Sowell just missed a double double is a surprise considering the senior is averaging better than a double double per game. He is averaging 12.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game through 17 outings. Sowell has been the team's top rebounder in 14 games this season, highlighted by an 18-rebound performance against Monmouth and Fairfield. Three other Saint Peter's players are averaging better than 10 points per game, namely Jenkins (13.0 ppg), Raul Orta, (11.2 ppg), and Darrell Lampley (10.2 ppg). Nick Leon has been the team's top playmaker this year, dishing off over 50 assits in 17 games.
