Dec 3, 2007
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The men's basketball team returns to Alumni Hall for a 7 pm game against Yale University Tuesday night. The Stags meet Yale for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
Fairfield University (2-5 overall) returns home for the first time in three weeks when it hosts Yale University tonight. The Stags have not been home since a win over Sacred Heart on November 18. Tonight's game starts a three-game home stand that also includes the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener on December 7 against Siena and Saint Joseph's on December 21. Jonathan Han tallied a game-high 17 points in the team's loss at Georgetown, the fourth time in the last five outings that the junior has held that distinction. Head Coach Ed Cooley has also seen a quick development by Yorel Hawkins, who comes off back-to-back double digit scoring efforts. He tallied 11 points in each of the last two games, which tied his season-high set against Holy Cross.
Yale University (1-5 overall) looks to halt a five-game skid that includes losses to Stanford and UCLA. The Bulldogs' five losses have come against teams that have a combined 31-7 overall record, led by Stanford (8-1), UCLA (7-1), and Holy Cross (6-1). The team has also had a tough schedule in that four of its six games have come on the road, with tonight's game being the fifth away game. The Bulldogs have three players who are scoring in double figures, led by Matt Kyle with a 12.8 scoring average. Caleb Holmes (11.3 points per game) and Eric Plato (10.7 points per game) ranks second and third among their teammates.
