BRONX, N.Y. -- Lyndon Jordan hit a three-point shot with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift the Fairfield University men's basketball team to a 69-66 victory over Fordham University. The victory extended the Stags' winning streak to six games and improved their overall record to 7-3.

For some fans, this game may have been reminiscent of last weekend's Iona game, where the Stags saw a second-half lead dwindle and eventually disappear late in the contest only to see Fairfield hit a dramatic shot to win in regulation.

After falling behind by a point early in the second half, Fairfield used a 10-2 run over a four-minute span that put the visitors in front by a 47-40 margin. The Stags never trailed from that point, although the Rams did manage to tie the game with 20 seconds remaining after Luke Devine scored off a lay up off an inbound play. Devine's basket ended a run of 13 straight points by Fordham guard Jio Fontan. The freshman started the string of points with a jumper at the 8:40 mark and the team trailing by four points.

After Devine's lay up, the Stags played for the last shot and put the ball in the dependable hands of senior Jonathan Han. Once again, Han made the right decision when he dribbled toward the basket before finding a wide-open Jordan in the corner. Jordan calmly squared his shoulders and released an unchallenged shot that caught nothing but net with less than two seconds on the clock.

Fordham inbounded the ball and heaved the ball from midcourt, but the attempt fell way short of the mark and allowed Fairfield to leave with the road win.

The Stags came back in this game, falling behind by five points in the opening 10 minutes of the contest. With the score 14-9 in favor of the Rams, Fairfield took the lead on back-to-back three pointers from Han that pushed the score to 15-14 with 9:46 on the clock. There were three ties and four lead changes before Fairfield settled for a one-point advantage at intermission, 32-31.

Greg Nero and Warren Edney each reached double figures for the Stags with 13 and 10 points respectively. Anthony Johnson just missed a double double with nine points and 13 rebounds. Fontan led all scorers with 22 points, while Mike Moore added 20 points for Fordham.

The Stags return to action on Sunday, December 14 when they host Drexel University at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 pm tip off.
