FAIRFIELD, Conn. - All streaks come to an end and the Fairfield University men's basketball team saw two such streaks snap at the collective hands of Siena College as the Saints posted a 78-62 victory over the Stags at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The loss ended Fairfield's four-game overall winning streak and its 10-game home winning streak.

The Stags fell behind early and never fully recovered from a Siena run that started at 6-0, grew to 17-2, and exploded into a 24-6 lead with 10:40 remaining in the first half. Alex Franklin had eight of the Saints' first 10 points, after which Ronald Moore took over with six points off a pair of three pointers. Fairfield never pulled within single digits the rest of the half, although it did get the lead down to 11 points at 26-15 with 5:12 on the clock.

Fairfield trailed by 16 points at halftime and was down the same margin with 18:29 left in the game at 37-21. It was at that point that the Stags gained some life and caught the Saints with a 14-2 run that brought the score all the way down to four points at 39-35. Jonathan Han scored the last seven points of that run, beginning with a pair of free throws that were awarded after the Siena bench was called with a technical foul. Han added a jumper and followed with a three-pointer on consecutive possessions.

Siena recovered from Fairfield's run by scoring 14 of the next 18 points in the game that quickly pushed the deficit back to double digits at 53-39 with 11:59 remaining in the second half. Kenny Hasbrouck tallied eight points during those four-plus minutes which included two three-point baskets and a lay up.

The Stags never came closer than 11 points from that point, trailing 65-54 with seven minutes remaining in the game.

Han led all scorers with 20 points, while Greg Nero added 14 points to the Fairfield cause. Four Siena student athletes reached double figures, led by Edwin Ubiles with 16 points. Hasbrouck and Franklin each finished with 14 points, while Clarence Jackson came off the bench to add 13 markers.

Fairfield returns to action on Friday, January 23 when it hosts Rider University at Alumni Hall. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm.
