2007-08
Edney played in 30 games in his first season with the Stags, the
only Fairfield freshman student athlete to appear in every game. He
earned the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Week on February 18 after he
scored a career-high 18 points against Rider. The forward also
scored more points than any other first-year player on the 2007-08
roster, netting 193 points for a 6.4 scoring average. He started
his career with five points and five rebounds at Wake Forest, the
first of eight straight games in which he scored points. His last
game in that streak included a 15-point effort against Yale, a
total which he would later surpass against Rider on February 16.
Edney ended the season with seven consecutive starts during which
he averaged 7.5 points per game. He shot 54 percent from the floor
in those seven games (20 of 34). Edney averaged 7.4 points per game
as a starter (14 games) and 5.6 points per contest (16 games) as a
reserve. He picked up 20 steals which placed fourth on the team.
Before
Fairfield
Edney spent 2006-07 at Hargrave Military Academy
where he averaged 14 points per game. He helped the team advance to
the National Prep Tournament national semifinals. He also enjoyed
success at James Madison High School, where he led the team to a
District Championship, as well as a District semi-final appearance.
In his senior season, the team shattered the school record for wins
in a season as James Madison posted a 25-4 record. With that
success, the team went to the Regional tournament for the first
time in 10 years. He averaged 15 points, six rebounds, four
assists, and three steals per game during his senior season. For
his efforts, Edney captured All-Metro and All-Region honors. Plus,
the forward secured All-State second team accolades in his senior
season. Edney earned the Liberty District Player of the Year award,
as well as the District's Defensive Player of the Year award. He
finished his high school career with 1,071 points. He was nominated
for the McDonald's All-America team as a senior.
