POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Will Whittington made eight 3-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead Marist to a 91-72 win over Fairfield on Friday night.
James Smith added 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jared Jordan scored 17 points and dished out 12 assists for the Red Foxes (10-6, 4-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic), who led the whole game.
After Fairfield cut the deficit to 35-29, Marist closed the first half on a 16-2 run to take a 51-31 lead at the break.
The closest the Stags (5-11, 3-5) got the rest of the way was 72-60 on a 3-pointer by Jonathan Han.
Terrence Todd and Han led Fairfield with 17 points apiece. Dewitt Maxwell added 12 points.
Ryan Stilphen contributed 13 points and Carl Hood 11 for the Red Foxes, who shot 52 percent to win their fifth straight.
