LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) - James Reaves scored 25 points as Niagara beat Fairfield 83-79 Saturday.
Fairfield (15-10, 11-5 MAAC) dropped behind league-leading Manhattan.
Tremmell Darden, who finished with 12 points, scored with 28 seconds left to play to give the Purple Eagles (14-11, 10-6) an 81-79 lead.
A wild scramble in Niagara's end gave Fairfield the ball with just 3.9 seconds to play. But Reaves tipped the inbound pass, which went off Oscar Garcia's hands. Niagara's Alvin Cruz sank a pair free throws with 1.6 seconds left.
Garcia led the Stags with 21 points and four rebounds, while Terrence Todd had 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Juan Mendez had 18 points and six rebounds for Niagara, and Cruz added 13
points and eight assists.
