FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Senior forward Sam Spann poured in 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the Fairfield University men's basketball team defeated the Connecticut All-Stars 88-71, in an exhibition win at Alumni Hall this evening.

Spann along with freshman Deng Gai and junior Oscar Garcia scored in double figures, with 14 and 10 respectively. Gai also pulled down 11 rebounds to record a double double.

Fairfield shot 51.4% for the game, while holding the Stars to only 34.8% from the floor.

Fairfield opens the 2001-02 season on the road November 16 at Harvard University. Then Head Coach Tim O'Toole and his former mentor at Seton Hall Tommy Amaker, meet at the University of Michigan, on November 20. Fairfield opens the Arena at Harbor Yard on November 27 against the University of Rhode Island. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
