ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Freshman Dommanic Ingerson scored 23 points, including 18 off 3-pointers, and Gavin Groninger added 15, to lead Michigan to an 88-59 win over Fairfield on Tuesday.

The victory made Tommy Amaker the first Michigan coach since Bill Frieder in 1980 to win his first two regular season games.

LaVell Blanchard and Bernard Robinson Jr. each added 11 points for the Wolverines (2-0), who led from start to finish.

Sam Spann led the Stags (0-2) with 18 points, and Rob Thomson chipped in 13.

After leading 42-26 at halftime, Michigan started the second half with a 14-4 run. Ingerson followed a 3-pointer with a rebound basket to give the Wolverines a 56-30 lead with 14:49 to play.

The closest Fairfield could get the rest of the way was 61-32 with 13:14 left. Michigan's largest lead was 78-43 with 9:16 to play.

The Wolverines capitalized on seven Fairfield turnovers and 2-of-7 shooting from the field by the Stags in the first eight minutes to build an 11-5 lead. They followed with a 21-9 run to take blow the game open, 33-14 with 5:01 left in the half.

Fairfield continued to struggle through the half, committing 13 turnovers and hitting only 8 of 25 field goals.

Michigan was without starting guard Leon Jones. The Wolverines announced before the game that Jones may miss up to three weeks after undergoing surgery earlier Tuesday to repair a torn capsule in his left thumb. He dislocated the thumb Sunday during practice.
