BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Chet Stachitas scored a game-high 16 points and Rob Ferguson matched his career-high with 14 as Saint Joseph's beat Fairfield 71-42 Monday in a non-conference game.
Dwayne Lee (seven assists) and Abdulai Jalloh added 13 points apiece for Saint Joe's (2-0), which shot 55 percent from the floor. The Hawks out-rebounded Fairfield 34-21.
Fairfield (0-2), which suffered the worst home loss in its history, was led by Terrence Todd's 11 points and Michael Bell's 10.
The Stags attempted just three free throws and had no player pull down four rebounds. They shot 35 percent from the floor.
Saint Joseph's never trailed in the game and broke it open with a 19-4 run in the middle of the first half. Fairfield endured a scoreless drought of 5:48 during that span.
The Hawks connected on six 3-pointers in the first half.
