FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Michael Van Schaick (Glens Falls, N.Y.) earned his second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week award after helping the Fairfield University men's basketball team post two wins last week. The guard averaged 10 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for the Stags.

Van Schaick tied his career high with nine points in an 84-72 win over Saint Peter's College. He made all six of his free throws and added a three-point basket in the victory. He followed up that performance by setting a new personal best with 11 points in the team's 91-80 decision over Siena College.

Against the Saints, Van Schaick was nearly perfect on the day, netting three of four field goal attempts and both three-point tries. The freshman also converted three of four charity tosses in 21 minutes of work.

For the season, Van Schaick averages 2.3 points per game overall and 4.1 points per outing in the conference play. He won his first rookie of the week honor following his five-point, four-assist performance in a win over Marist College on December 9.

Fairfield University, under sixth-year head coach Tim O'Toole, owns a 12-8 overall record and a 5-4 MAAC mark.
