Fairfield, Conn. -- Darren Phillip, who led the nation in rebounding last season, received a berth on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference 20th Anniversary team. Phillip joined 19 other players on the team, as the a group was chosen by a special committee comprised of former and current MAAC coaches and administrators.
Phillip played forward/center for the Stags for four seasons, ending with the 1999-2000 campaign. He finished his career with 1,218 points and grabbed 868 rebounds. Phillip gained national recogintion last season, when he led all Divisions in rebounding with a 14.0 average. The forward owns the top two single-game rebounding efforts in MAAC history, including a conference record 25 versus Marist during the 1999-2000 season. He also was tops in Division I with 24 double-doubles, including 19 straight to end the season. Phillip established a school record last year, collecting 405 caroms.
