FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Deng Gai (Sudan) earned his second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) player of the week award after recording his first career triple double in a 56-35 win over Loyola College on February 3.

The forward entered the game against the Greyhounds with three straight double doubles, which he extended with his 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots. It marked the third time this season that he reached double figures in blocks, securing 13 against Siena and 10 at Rider earlier in the season.

With his 10 blocks, Gai raised his season total to a career-high 118 blocks in 20 games. His 5.9 blocks per game remains the top average in NCAA Division I. His 397 career blocks rates 17th all-time in Division I history.

The senior picked up the MAAC co-player of the week award on January 17 after leading the Stags to victories at Siena and at Rider. In those two contests, Gai averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and eight blocks per game. He just missed a triple double against Rider with 25 points, nine rebounds, and 10 blocked shots.

Gai is currently tied for the team lead with a 14.9 scoring average, while his 8.6 caroms per contest are a team-high. The Stags, under head coach Tim O'Toole, are currently 11-9 overall and 8-3 in MAAC play.
