Buffalo, NY -- March Madness may be just around the corner for the Fairfield University men's and women's basketball teams, but before this weekend's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournaments tip-off at the Marine Midland Arena in Buffalo, the league handed out its annual awards. Headlining the Stag award winners was freshman standout Jermaine Clark who was tabbed as the MAAC Rookie of the Year. Sophomore Gail Strumpf was named to the First Team All-MAAC on the women's side. On the men's side, junior Darren Phillip was named to the First Team All-MAAC while senior Didier Boucard earned Third Team All-MAAC honors and was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year.
Clark, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 16.0 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game. He led all MAAC players with 65 three-point field goals, capturing the Citizen's Communications Long Distance Shooter award. Clark ranks fifth in the
