FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Five Fairfield University basketball players received All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) recognition, as the annual post-season teams were announced this afternoon.

Deng Gai earned All-MAAC first team honors, while Terrence Todd collected All-MAAC second team accolades for the men's team. On the women's side, Janelle McManus was named to the All-MAAC first team, while Cathy Dash was selected to the All-MAAC third team. Sabra Wrice received a spot on the MAAC's All-Rookie team, rounding out the Fairfield award winners.

Gai currently leads NCAA Division I with 5.7 blocks per game, and places eighth all-time with 439 career blocks. He averages 13.8 points per game, and a team-high 8.4 caroms per contest. The forward registered 10 double doubles during the year, including a triple double against Loyola College in early February (19 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocks).

Todd leads the team in scoring with a 15.9 scoring average, and places third among his teammates with 5.0 rebounds per contest. Todd has been the team's leading scorer or co-leader in 14 of 28 games this year.

McManus led Fairfield in scoring during the regular season, averaging 14.0 points per game, which was sixth in the MAAC. She also led the team in assists (4.2 apg), and had the fourth best assist/turnover ratio in the MAAC at 1.97.

Dash compiled eight double doubles for the Stags in 2004-05, which helped her finish fourth in the MAAC with 7.6 rebounds every forty minutes. Dash was also among the leaders in the MAAC in steals per game with an average of 1.48.

Wrice started 12 of 27 games for the Stags this season, averaging 7.6 points per game, and 3.6 rebounds per contest. Down the stretch, she scored in double figures in the final four games of the season. Wrice earned two MAAC Rookie of the Week awards.

Both Gai and McManus are on the ballots for their respective Player of the Year award. Each player on the All-MAAC first team is eligible for the Player of the Year voting, which will be selected by the conference's head coaches.
