FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Guard Michael Van Schaick (Glens Falls, N.Y.) earned a spot on the All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Division I third team which was announced at the organization's annual banquet Tuesday night. Van Schaick received a berth to the prestigious team for the first time in his career.

The senior led the Fairfield University men's basketball team with a 15.4 scoring average, a number which also placed ninth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) statistics. He led the conference in free throw shooting percentage (.857), and was third in the MAAC with 2.57 three-point baskets per game. His play helped him collect All-MAAC accolades at season's end.

Van Schaick finished his career with 163 three-point baskets, which places him third all-time at Fairfield University in that category. He holds fourth place all-time in Fairfield history with 410 three-point attempts, giving him a career .398 three-point field goal percentage. Van Schaick averaged 8.1 points per game during his four-year career.

The Fairfield University men's basketball team, under head coach Ed Cooley, finished the 2006-07 season with a 13-19 overall record and a 10-8 MAAC mark.
