Fairfield, Conn. -- Head Coach Tim O'Toole announced Michael Bell (Marshalltown, Iowa) and Terrence Todd (Neptune, N.J.) have each signed a national letter of intent to attend Fairfield University, and play basketball.

"I am very excited about adding two talented players like Michael and Terrence to our roster," O'Toole said. "Both players will help us offensively and defensively, and could have an impact as freshmen. I look forward to coaching Michael and Terrence."

Bell, a 6-foot, 4-inch guard, joins Fairfield University after a highly-successful career at Marshalltown High School. After averaging 17 points per game as a junior, Bell tallied 22.5 points per outing as a senior. He finished up his career as the school's second all-time leading scorer. The guard collected first team All-State honors as a senior, in Iowa's largest school division. He excelled on the track in the 400 hurdles, winning the state championship. Bell also participated in the long jump and 110 high hurdles during his high school career.

Todd, a 6-foot guard, comes to Fairfield University via Neptune High School where he helped the team post a 29-3 record as well as capture the Group III and Shore Conference championships last season and reach the Tournament of Champions final. He averaged 14.6 points and eight assists per game as senior, after tallying 14 points and 4.1 assists per contest as a junior. During his scholastic career, Todd garnered first team Shore Conference honors as a sophomore. He went on to gain second team All-Monmouth County as a junior, before he earned first team All-State from Newark Star Ledger and from Associated Press as a senior. He capped his senior campaign with the most valuable player trophy at the New Jersy North-South All-Star game. Neptune High School posted a 71-16 record during his final three years as starting point guard.

Todd and Bell join DeWitt Maxwell as the Stags' men's basketball recruiting class. Maxwell, who signed in November of 2001, averaged 17.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists as a junior at Science High School in Newark, N.J. Last season, the 6-foot, 4-inch guard/forward netted 24 points per game. Maxwell played for the New Jersey Roadrunners, one of the most successful AAU program in the Northeast. He excelled with the Roadrunners, helping the team win several tournaments during the 2000-01 campaign.
