Fairfield, Conn. -- Fairfield University Head Coach Tim O'Toole booked another exciting and competitive non-conference schedule for the 2000-'01 season, including a trip to the pre-season NIT. The Stags will battle teams from seven different conferences, namely the Big East, Conference USA, the Atlantic 10, the Mid-American, the Northeast, the Colonial Athletic and the Metro Atlantic Athletic.
The Stags open their season in the pre-season NIT, tipping-off against Villanova on November 14. With a victory, the second round of the NIT would take place November 17 against the winner of Duke-Princeton winner. Fairfield's next game takes place on November 18 at the University of Rhode Island.
Fairfield would take to the open road once again with it's berth in the Carrier Classic on December 1, playing Virginia Tech in the first round. Depending on the outcome of the two games, Fairfield would play either Syracuse or Akron on December 2. The MAAC season opens with games on December 7 and 10 (opponents to be announced), before finishing up for the semester with a December 12 matchup at St. Francis and a December 22 game versus UConn.
Following the holiday break, the Stags travel to Illinois for two games - December 28 at Northern Illinois and December 30 at DePaul. The Stags play their only non-conference home game on January 20, hosting George Mason.
