FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Michael Evanovich (Storrs, Conn.) has enrolled as a student-athlete at Fairfield University, and will join the Stags men's basketball program as a forward. Evanovich transfers to Fairfield University after one year at Iowa State University. In accordance with NCAA transfer rules, Evanovich will not be able to play in games for the next two semesters.

"I am happy that Michael has joined our program," Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley said. "He has the ability to stretch the defense and shoot the ball well which will help our team. He will also help open up interior play for our offense. He's going to have a chance to learn our system over a two-year period, which should help him in his transition."

Evanovich (6-9, 210 pounds) joins the Stags program after playing one season at Iowa State University, where he helped the program post a 16-14 record a year ago. He appeared in eight games, averaging nearly three minutes per outing as a rookie. He tallied five points and three rebounds while in the lineup. The forward scored in three of his eight appearances, including two-point efforts against Howard and Missouri. He also secured a season-high two rebounds and played a personal-best nine minutes against Howard.

Evanovich spent one season at South Kent Prep where he helped the team post a 32-9 record and advance to the New England Class "A" Final. During his stay, he averaged 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He went to South Kent Prep after attending E.O. Smith High School, where he earned All-State honorable mention honors from The Hartford Courant. As a junior, Evanovich averaged 15.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
