Men's Basketball

Fairfield, Conn. -- Seven different conferences and four appearances on the Madison Square Garden Network highlight the Fairfield University men's basketball 2000-01 schedule. In addition, the Stags will play in such venues as Madison Square Garden, Pepsi Arena, All-State Arena (Chicago), Carrier Dome and Hartford Civic Center.

The schedules includes stops at Villanova University, the first round of the Pre-Season NIT, Syracuse University , DePaul University and the University of Connecticut. The 2000-01 schedule could be one of the program's most ambitious slates in school history.

Nine home games are on tap for the upcoming seasons, with the first coming against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Iona College on December 6. The Iona game is the only home game for the months of November and December. After that contest, Fairfield plays five consecutive road games before returning to Alumni Hall for a January 3 matchup with Niagara.

The Stags will play a neutral site game against Virginia Tech, the first-round of the Carrier Classic at Syracuse University, as well as neutral site games against Marist. The first Marist meeting takes place on January 15 at Pepsi Arena, part of a MAAC doubleheader, with the second outing on February 4 at Madison Square Garden as part of the MAAC Challenge. Siena will play Manhattan in the second half of that doubleheader.
