FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University basketball programs will take the court at Alumni Hall this Saturday for their annual Red/White scrimmages, giving Stags fans their first opportunity to see the 2006-07 teams. The women's scrimmage begins at 5 pm, with the men's scrimmage set to follow at approximately 6 pm. And if you haven't had enough basketball, you can meet Coaches Ed Cooley and Dianne Nolan as well as their players afterward for autographs and pizza.
Both teams will have a complete slate of activities to offer fans throughout the two-hour session. After Coach Nolan and her players are introduced, they will perform a series of drills before playing a scrimmage. After the scrimmage ends, the team will host a contest or two on the court.
The men's session begins immediately following the women's event, with Coach Cooley and his team being introduced around 6 pm. The team will warm up with a few full-court drills, and then conduct its own Red/White scrimmage. The men's team will also host a few contests during their hour on the court, giving select fans an opportunity to take the court along side their Stags.
After the men's team leaves the floor, all fans are invited for pizza at a meet and greet session with both the men's and women's teams at approximately 7 pm.
Admission is free and is part of the University's Homecoming celebration. And don't forget, the women's volleyball team will host Marist College at 2 pm at Alumni Hall, giving Fairfield fans a full day of Stags athletics.
