Fairfield, Conn. -- While most of the collegiate basketball world will celebrate the coming of a new season this weekend, the Fairfield University basketball program will wait until October for its celebration. Yes, the two teams will begin practice as scheduled on Saturday, October 13. But, the public won't see the unveiling of Fairfield basketball until October 18, when the two basketball programs host "Arena Madness" at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 8:00 pm with the women's team going through drills until 8:15, when the men's team takes the floor. Following performances by the cheerleaders, band and dance team, the women's team will scrimmage from 8:40 to 9:05. The men's intrasquad scrimmage takes place between 9:05 and 9:30 pm.
