Fairfield, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's basketball teams will get their respective seasons underway this weekend and the community is invited to join in the fun at the First Annual Pre-Season Swing with the Stags. This will be the first opportunity for fans to meet this year's teams as they begin their quest for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) titles.
Activities will begin on Friday, October 15 at 8:15 pm as the teams will do a torch run from the beach to campus where the community will gather at a Bonfire on Campion Field. After performances by the Fairfield University cheerleaders and dance team, along with several contests and giveaways, the teams will be introduced by this year's emcee, World Wrestling Federation (WWF) ring announcer, Howard "The Fink" Finkle. On Saturday, October 16, boys and girls are invited to attend clinics hosted by the teams and the public is also invited to attend each team's scrimmages in the afternoon.
There will be contests and giveaways all through Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Fans will also be able to get their favorite players' autographs following the teams' scrimmages. For more information, please call (203) 254-4000, ext. 4136.
