Fairfield, Conn. -- Jermaine Clark scored 22 points, making nine of 11 shots from the field, as Fairfield University opened the season with a 100-90 exhibition victory over the Converse All-Stars. Chris Rivers and Jeremy Logan each reached double-digits as well with 17 and 13 points, respectively.

The Stags led for most of the first half, holding a lead as high as 12 points several times in the period. The last 12 point lead came at 38-26 with 7:23 remaining in the half. Converse used a 19-7 run over the next six minutes to tie the game at 45-45. Fairfield recaptured the lead on Logan's tip-in basket with 40 seconds remaining, but a three-pointer by Brandon Floyd with 19 ticks left gave the All-Stars their first lead of the game, taking a 48-47 into halftime.

Converse held the lead for the first eight minutes of the half, never ahead by more than three points in the contest. Mark Rbzyck gave the All-Stars their biggest lead with a three-pointer with 14:04 left, putting the visitors ahead 64-61. The Stags used a brief 7-3 spurt to take the lead for good. Rivers tallied all seven points during the 90 second run with two jump shots and a three-pointer.

Rivers three-pointer put the Stags ahead 68-67 and started an 11-0 run which gave Fairfield a 76-67 lead with 10 minutes remaining. The lead increased to 17 points with seven minutes remaining at 86-69.

Fairfield shot 49 percent from the floor, a small edge over Converse's 47 field goal percentage. The Stags return to action on Saturday, November 13 when they host another regional all-star team at Alumni Hall, begining at 5:00 PM.
