FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Geoff Middleton (Maplewood, N.J.), a 6-9 forward/center at Columbia High School, signed a national letter of intent to attend Fairfield University beginning with the 2004-05 campaign. The announcement was made by Fairfield University men's basketball coach Tim O'Toole.
"I am pleased with Geoff's decision to attend Fairfield University in the fall and play basketball," O'Toole said. "His size and ability will give us an inside presence, and will compliment both our offense and our defense. He is a quality student-athlete with a solid educational background, who will work hard both in the classroom and on the basketball court."
Middleton averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks per game as a junior, while playing at Columbia High School. His performance as a junior helped him become one of the top seniors in New Jersey. Earlier this fall, he was named a top 30 senior in the state of New Jersey. Middleton also played with the Newark Rams, an AAU travel team in northern New Jersey.
Fairfield University begins its 2003-04 campaign on Friday, November 21, as the team travels to Harvard University for a 7 p.m. tip.
