FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Start the holiday season a little early by participating in the seventh annual Phoebe's Phenomenal Toy Drive. Unwrapped toys will be accepted during the Fairfield women's basketball game against Seton Hall on December 8, as well as during the men's basketball game versus Marist College on December 9. The toy drive benefits Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

Fans are invited to bring a new and unwrapped toy to the game. As a thank you gift, fans who bring a toy will receive a voucher for a free ticket to the February 16th men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Niagara University.

The inspiration behind this event is an eight-year old girl named Phoebe, who at the age of two underwent surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital on December 21st. She was released from the hospital on Christmas Eve after a "phenomenally" rapid recovery but not before she gave her Barney doll to another sick child who wasn't able to be home for the holidays.

You can celebrate Phoebe's generosity by bringing an unwrapped, new toy to the December 8 and 9 basketball games. The games are slated for 7:30 pm at the Arena at Harbor Yard. For ticket information or to purchase tickets, please call (203) 254-4103, log on to www.ticketmaster.com, or visit the Arena at Harbor Yard box office.
