Fairfield, Conn. -- Ajou Deng will play his first game as a Fairfield University Stag this Saturday, as head coach Tim O'Toole will lead his team in an exhibition game against the USDBL All-Stars. The game takes place at Alumni Hall, and begins at noon.
Deng, who transferred from the University of Connecticut last December, was required to sit out one full year due to NCAA transfer rules. He becomes eligible to play Saturday, and will wear a Fairfield University uniform for the first time. His first regular-season game comes on December 28 when the Stags travel to the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Fairfield has been on hiatus since its 75-71 win over previously unbeaten St. Francis College on December 11. The team looks to improve on its 1-5 record when it travels to UNC-Wilmington, the first of three straight road games. The Stags return to the Arena at Harbor Yard on January 8, when they host St. Peter's College at 8:00 pm as part of a doubleheader.
