
Men's Golf Opens Spring Schedule With Seventh Place Finish At Pizza Hut/Bell South Invitational

The Fairfield University men's golf team opened the spring portion of it schedule at the Pizza Hut/Bell South Classic in Philadelphia, Miss. The Stags shot a two-day 619 at the event, to finish in seventh place.
Fairfield shot a team-total 315 on day one, to enter the second round in ninth place. The second round saw the Stags shoot five shots better as a team, with a 310, the sixth-best round of the day, to move up the two spots to seventh place. Tennessee Tech won the team title with a two-day 586.
R.J. Zielinski was the Stags top finisher, finishing in a 20th place tie, shooting a 154. He shot 79 in round one and was then four strokes better in the second round, with his 74 the fifth best round of the day.
Rob Tarallo and William Onstott finished in a tie for 28th place with identical 157 totals. Tarallo shot 79-78, while Onstott reversed those scores for the tie. Kevin Fitzpatrick was a stroke back of his teammates, in a 33rd place tie, shooting 79-79. Nick Gliozzo saw the best improvement from round one, where he shot an 84, to round two, where he carded a 78, for a 52nd place finish at 162.
The Stags return to action March 2-4 at the Charleston Southern Invitational, before hosting the Fairfield Spring Invitational, March 6-8 in Mrytle Beach, S.C.
