
Men's Golf Places Second At Fairfield Spring Invitational

The Fairfield University men’s golf team finished second
at the Fairfield Spring Invitational on March 8 at the Crown Park
Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The event was limited to
one round due to inclement weather. The course played par-72
and 6,477 yards, with strong winds throughout the round
Lewis University shot a team round of 313, +25, to capture the team
total. The Stags shot 322, to tie for second place with
Harvard University. Mount St. Mary’s College finished
fourth at 325. Followed by St. Anselm College, 303, University of
Charleston, 331, Fairmont State, 339, LaSalle University and
UMass-Lowell, 340, and Assumption College, 342.
Lewis’ Brian Carlson and Josh Butterfield both shot rounds of
75, +3, to share the individual crown. Korey Pettit placed
third, at +4, while Michael Shore of Harvard was fourth, with a
round of 77.
The Stags top finisher was one of four players tied for fifth
place. William Onstott shot a +6, 78, to pace the Stags
effort. R.J. Zielinski was the Stags next finisher, shooting
a 79, +7, for a ninth-place finish. Kevin Fitzpatrick was a
stroke back of his teammate, in 14th place. Nick Gliozzo and
Rob Tarallo both shot 85, +13 rounds, to finish in a tie for 30th
place.
The Stags return to action April 11-13 at the New England Division
I Championships.
