
Men's Golf Finishes Ninth At New England Division I Championships

The Fairfield University men's golf team finished ninth at the New England Division I Championships, shooting a two-day 627, +51. The event was played April 12-13 at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, R.I., a par-72 course.
Fairfield shot a 317 team score in the first round and followed that with a second-round 310. The seven stroke improvement was the second best improvement from round-to-round at the event. Yale University shot 290-293 for a two-day 583, +7, to win the team crown. Colby Moore won the individual crown with a two-day 140, -4, for the Bulldogs.
The Stags top finisher was R.J. Zielinski who tied for 20th with a pair of other players. Zielinski shot a 152, +8, carding back-to-back rounds of 76. Kevin Fitzpatrick was the Stags next finisher placing in a eight-way tie for 27th. He finished with a 156, +12, improving four strokes from the first round, with an 80-76 on the card.
Nick Gliozzo and Rob Tarallo comprised half of the four-way tie for 39th place at the event, with two-day scores of 160, +16. Gliozzo shot an 82 in the first round, and improved four strokes on Sunday, carding a second-round 78, while Tarallo shot 80-80 at the event. Jeff Bradkey rounded out the Stags effort, finishing 46th. He shot back-to-back rounds of 81, for a two-day 162, +16.
The Stags will return to action at the end of the week traveling to the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational in Maryland, Thursday-Saturday.
