
Golf Teams In Second Place After First Round Of MAAC Championship

The Fairfield University men's and women's golf teams both completed the first day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in second place. The event is being played in Orlando, Fla., at the Magnolia Golf Course.
The men shot a team score of 300, one shot behind the leader, Loyola College. The women's team carded a 333, 11 strokes behind leader Siena College.
Courtney Richardson shot 39 on both the front and back and is in first place tie after 18 holes, with a 78. One stroke back is Christiana Destefeno, in a two-way tie for third place, with a first day 79.
Kristen MacDonald is the women's team third highest player after day one, shooting an 87, scoring five shots better on the back side. Annie Sperandio is two strokes back of her teammate, with a day-one 89. Alicia Esposito is tied for 11th place, carding a 90 on the first day.
On the men's side Jeff Bradkey sits in fourth place tie after shooting a team-best 73 on Friday. Two strokes back of him is Kevin Fitzpatrick, who shot a 75, improving five strokes after the turn.
R.J. Zielinski is a stroke back of his teammate, in a 12th place tie with William Onstott. Zielinski shot 37-39, while Onstott carded identical 38's. Rob Tarallo carded an 82 on the first day and is in 35th place.
