Men's Golf Third, Women Second After Round Two Of MAAC Championship

The Fairfield University men's and women's golf teams have completed the first two rounds of the 2008 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship at the Magnolia Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.

The women's team shot a second round 326 and is in second place, behind Siena College with 18 holes to play.  The men's team shot a 303 on Saturday and are in third place, behind leader Loyola College and Rider University.

R.J. Zielinski paced the Stags second round effort, shooting the third lowest round of the day, with a 71.  He enters the final round in a tie for seventh-place with a two-day score of 147.  Kevin Fitzpatrick improved one stroke from his first round score, carding a 74 on Saturday.  He enters the third round with a two-day 149 in a 10th place tie. 

William Onstott is tied for 16th entering the final day of competition.  He has carded identical rounds of 76, for a two-day 152.  Jeff Bradkey shot an 83 on Saturday for a two-round 156, good for a 25th place tie.  Rob Tarallo repeated his round of 82 on Saturday and is 35th entering the final round with a 164.

Courtney Richardson is paced the women's team, finishing the second round in second place, with a 158.  She shot an 80 on Saturday and is three strokes shy of the leader.  Kristen MacDonald played eight strokes better on Saturday carding a 79 to move into a seventh-place tie with a two-round 166.

Christiana Destefano carded a Saturday score of 89, and is in ninth-place with a score of 168.  Annie Sperandio and Alicia Esposito both improved six strokes from round one to round two for the Stags.  Sperandio is 10th with a two-day 172, while Esposito is 11th with a 174.

The three-round championship will conclude on Sunday.
