Men's Golf Places Fifth At MAAC Championship

The Fairfield University men's golf team finished the 2008 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship with a team score of 912, good for a tie for fifth place. The three-day event was played at the Magnolia Golf Course with the Stags shooting 300-303-309.  The finish is two spots ahead of the team's placement last season, when they were +65 for seventh place.

The Stags were led by R.J. Zielinksi who placed ninth, his second top-10 finish in as many years.  The junior carded a 222 for the event, shooting 76-71-75 over the three rounds.  Kevin Fitzpatrick carded a 77 in the third round, moving into a tie for 12th place with a 226 (75-74-77).  Jeff Bradkey also carded a 77 on the final day, shooting 73-83-77, for a 26th place tie with a score of 233.

William Onstott shot an 82 on Sunday, finishing in 28th place, with a 234 (76-76-82).  Rob Tarallo shot his best round of the tournament on Sunday, to finish in a tie for 34th place, with a 244 (82-82-80).

The top scorer for Fairfield was Nick Gliozzo, playing as an individual scorer, who finished in a tie for third place.  He shot a 219 for the tournament, carding 73-72-74 over the event.

The MAAC Championship is the final event of the season for the Stags.
