Men's Golf Finishes Fourth At MAAC Championship

The Fairfield University men's golf team finished in fourth-place at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in Celebration Golf Course, with a three-day score of 929.  It marks the Stags best finish at the tournament since the 2004 squad also placed fourth.

Jeff Bradke was the Stags top finisher at the event, in a six-way tie for eight-place with a three-day score of 229.  He shot a 75 in the final round, equaling his best round of the tournament, which he shot in the opening round as well.

Greg Cavanaugh had his best round of the tournament on Sunday, shooting a 76, to finish in a 14th place tie at 231.  Joseph Macaluso put up a third-round 80 to finish in 18th place at 233 for the championship.  R.J. Zielinski shot a 79 in his final collegiate round and finished 22nd overall with a three-day score of 235.

William Onstott also shot his best round of the championship on Sunday, with a 77, to finish tied for 24th with a three-day score of 236.  Nick Gliozzo shot an 83 in the final round to finish in a 29th place tie, with a championship score of 240.  Kevin Fitzpatrick rounded out the Stags effort with a three-day score of 241, good for 31st place.  He had his best round on Sunday with a final round score of 75.

Loyola College finished as the overall champion, with a three-day score of 907.  Siena College was second at 912 and Iona College third at 918.  Canisius College finished in fifth-place, eight strokes behind the Stags, and were followed by Rider University (941), Niagara University (943), Manhattan College (945) and Saint Peter's College (978).
