Nov 5, 2009
The Fairfield University Department of Athletics announced this afternoon a multi-year partnership with Race Brook Country Club to serve as the Stags men's and women's golf teams home
"To have the opportunity to utilize one of the regions top courses is an extremely beneficial development for our golf program," said Director of Golf Len Roberto. "We are tremendously excited about the potential that having Race Brook as our home course provides us."
Race Brook Country Club boasts a 27-hole course, with the championship length 18-hole main course playing at par-71. The club has excellent practice facilities, including a driving range, chipping area and practice bunker, as well as a challenging practice green.
"As one of Connecticut's oldest and most prominent private clubs, Race Brook Country Club is extremely pleased to partner with Fairfield University," said club president Robert L. Berchem. "This exciting new relationship with Fairfield reinforces our club's heritage, one rich in junior golf, scholarship programs for our staff and service to the community."
Fairfield is a member of the 10-school Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Roberto has served as the head coach of both the men's and women's squads for the past five seasons. He came to Fairfield in the 1998-99 season as the head coach of the men's team.
