Men's Lacrosse Falls 12-9 To Yale On Senior Day

The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 non-conference decision to visiting Yale University Saturday evening on Lessing Field.  The Stags drop to 3-7 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 3-7 overall.

Yale built an 11-6 lead on a Brendan Gibson at the 13:13 mark of the fourth quarter.  The Stags mounted a rally at that point, putting in three straight goals, in a 5:04 span, to get within 11-9, but would get no closer.  Todd Baxter netted both of his goals in that stretch, netting goals at 8:06 and 6:10.  Sean Bannon netted his first career goal at the 3:02 mark.  Tyler Casertano ended the Stags run with the final goal of the game, at 1:39, for the final margin. 

Baxter led the Stags in scoring with four points, including two goals and two assists.  Chris Ajemian and Grant Devilbiss each scored twice in the game, with Ajemian adding an assist. 

Rob Simeti won 5-7 face-offs on the night, as the Stags captured 12-25 for the game.  Andrew Urquhart won 6-12 face-offs and Sean Bannon went 1-2.  Matt Scanlon picked up a team-high seven ground balls, as the team recorded 30 on the night.

Yale was led by the seven-point effort of Brendan Gibson, who netted three goals and four assists.  Gregory DuBoff went 13-25 on the face-off and had 14 ground balls, as the team recorded 55 ground balls.

Joe Marra took the loss in net for the Stags, making six saves in 55:38.  Jeff Cilente finished with one save, allowing one goals, in 4:22 of action.  George Carafides made 10 saves in playing the entire time in goal for the Bulldogs.

Fairfield will return to action on Saturday, April 19, when it hosts Loyola in an ECAC Lacrosse League game at 3 p.m. on Lessing Field.  The game will air live on CN8 and be available on-line via B2 Networks.
