2007: Cleveland entered nine games during the campaign, starting his last seven appearances. He did not allow a goal in his first 150 minutes of work, including a 0-0 double-overtime tie with Saint Peter's (110 minutes). It was the first of three shutouts for the Trumbull native, also accomplishing the task at Rider and at Siena. He earned those shutouts with his three highest save totals on the year, making six stops against Saint Peter's, a personal-best seven saves at Rider, and five saves at Siena. Cleveland finished the season with 33 saves and a .767 save percentage. He completed six of his seven starts, coming out in the second half against Marist.

2006: Cleveland appeared in one game as a freshman, playing nine minutes in a 3-1 win over Siena College. He did not make a save in the game, but faced one shot in the victory.

Before Fairfield: Cleveland comes to Fairfield after posting 20 shutouts at Shelton High School, and helping the program post more than 40 wins during his four-year career. Shelton tallied a 14-4-2 record in 2005, thanks in part to Cleveland's 10 shutouts and sub-1.00 goals against average. As a sophomore, Cleveland earned All-Division, and accomplished the task again as a junior and as a senior. He also earned All-Conference (Housatonic) accolades in 2004 and 2005, as well as All-State second team honors a year ago. He capped his career as team captain in his senior year.
