ORLANDO, Fla. -- Senior midfielder Sam Bailey earned another berth to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) first team when the conference announced its annual awards at the MAAC tournament banquet. The tournament is taking place at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

Bailey helped the Stags advance to the MAAC tourney semi-finals by scoring all three goals in a 3-1 win over Marist College on Thursday afternoon. His offensive output raised his season total to 11 goals and four assists for 26 total points. The senior became the school's all-time scorer when he netted the game-tying goal against Canisius in October.

Tom Skara and Tom Clements each picked up a spot on the All-MAAC second team after anchoring the Stags defense. Fairfield ranked among the nation's leaders for team goals against average throughout the year. The defense yielded just 19 goals in 18 games to date, which includes eight shutouts. Matthew Uy picked up All-Conference second team honors after a solid inaugural season with the Stags. He was among the team's leaders with three assists, and earned 17 starts in 19 games.

Jack Cleverley was another Fairfield defender to be honored for his play on the pitch. The freshman secured a berth to the MAAC All-Rookie team after starting 16 of 18 games for the Stags.

Four Fairfield players were also honored for their classroom accomplishments, as Steve Desmond, Pat Kelly, Mike Lentine, and Christian Uy received berths to the MAAC All-Academic team.

The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under head coach Carl Rees, will play Saint Peter's College in the MAAC tournament semi-finals on November 17. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
