
Second Half Goals Provide The Difference In 2-0 Setback To Loyola College

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The men's soccer team surrendered two goals in the second half, ending the Stags unbeaten conference record with a 2-0 loss. Fairfield dropped to 1-1-1 in MAAC play and 6-3-2 overall.
The two teams settled on a scoreless first half as the Greyhounds owned a slight 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. The second half belonged to the home team however with the Greyhounds outshooting the Stags by an 8-0 count in the final 45 mintes.
Loyola's first shot of the second half provided the team with the game's first goal. Janson Blake sent a ball into the box but Fairfield goalkeeper Matt Cleveland managed to get his hands on the ball. Before he obtained complete control, Jamie Darvill headed the ball out of the goalkeepers hands and into the goal for a 1-0 lead.
The Greyhounds put the game out of reach in the final minutes as Phil Bannister finished a play which started with Milos Kocic's goal kick. Cleveland finished the game with one save which came in the second half. Kocic tallied two saves in recording the shutout for Loyola.
The Stags return to action on Sunday when they play Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J. Game time is slated for 1 pm.
